Learn to Play the Violin – Some of the Things You Need to Know

Playing the violin can be a great experience, but if your not taught properly it is not very easy to learn. You must learn the sound of the notes, how to hold the violin, and how to use the strings to finger your notes.

An important thing to remember is how to hold the violin. If this is not learned correctly, playing can be very uncomfortable. The left arm goes under the body of the violin and then around the neck portion, so that the fingers and hands can touch the strings. The chin must rest over by the left shoulder. The right arm is then over the body of the violin in order to pluck the strings.

Once holding the violin is accomplished, the violinist must practice and learn exactly where the notes are on the fingerboard. Playing a violin is not like playing a guitar, it does not have frets. There are four main positions on a violin. Farthest away from the face is the first position and have low-pitched notes and sounds. Further up the neck of the violin is the fourth position, which has the highest notes. The strings go from lowest to highest, G, D, A, E. Violinists can change the tone of the notes by applying pressure on the strings. They can also play open strings without pressing on them.

Violinists can play long steady sounds by dragging the bow across the strings they want to play. They can also play what is called pizzicato, which is played by plucking the strings with the right hand and fingers.

Violins are however one of the most rewarding instruments to play once learned. If you think you have what it takes then I highly suggest taking the challenge of learning to play.

Left Handed Violins Question

Will being left handed inhibit me playing the violin at all?

I play the clairinet without a problem, but that doesn’t reguire much cordination in that way…

It depends on you and what you want to play. If you want to play classical, you have to do it right-handed. If you want to fiddle you have options. I know people who have not been able to play right-handed but do well left-handed. If you play left-handed you have the choice of a left-handed fiddle (which involves a LOT more than just reversing the strings) or playing a standard instrument backwards, which I and several others do. But many predominantly left-handers can still learn to bow with the right hand.

What violin strings do I buy?

I recently bought a new 1400$ violin. I have not chosen new strings yet though. The current problem is that the string tension is so high, even when it is in tune, that I can hardly press the strings down. I cannot freely play a note without major support from my left hand, which means I cannot use a vibrato. I’m wondering if it is the strings or the bridge that is causing this problem.

If it is the strings, what type of Dominant strings do I buy?

(Also, the violin is in tune ; D)

If you recently bought a new violin and spent $1,400, it should have new strings on it, and you should not have to buy another set. It sounds like you need to take it to a luthier and have them shape the bridge a little bit. It may be too high. Changing the strings may not help the problem.

The headline news is that the performers get Satie right here. Many Satie recordings are too lush, losing the astringent edge that keeps his loveliness from turning to sentimentality. Rogé, the main performer, has the right idea. He plays with beautiful tone and phrasing, but adds just enough edge to his sound that the music never turns mushy. The program includes all Satie’s music for piano four…

Free Violin Lessons – Learn To Play Violin Today

The first thing you need to know in order to learn to play the violin is how to hold it. It’s important to hold the violin properly. Therefore you need the right size as there are many different violin sizes. The right size depends on your arm length and hand size. If you are not sure about the right size, go to a music store and ask the owner.

When it comes to holding a violin, some people say there are many different ways, but actually, there is only one proper way to hold a violin. You have to place the violin on your left shoulder (if you are right handed), and your chin on the chin rest on your violin (most violins have a chin rest). The neck of the violin must rest between the thumb and first finger. Try to hold the bow lightly with thumb and fingers. The fore finger should be on top of the pad.

As there are no frets on the violin, beginners can use finger taps that you have to place on the fingerboard instead. Another well-known technique uses dots of white-out on the fingerboard. The first position – this is the way the placement of your left hand on the fingerboard is called – is the most commonly used position for beginners. The lowest note in this position is an open G; the highest one in first position is played with the fourth finger on the E-string, sounding a B. If you move your first finger on the place of the second finger you reach the second position and if it takes the place of the third finger, you have the third position.
